Christchurch Video Production and Photography With a Marketing Mindset
Parallax Films is a Christchurch-based video production and photography company. The team brings together film direction, photography, production management and aerial operations under one roof, working with businesses and organisations across New Zealand. Credits include work for the BBC, Warner Bros, TVNZ, Tourism New Zealand and Government organisations, as well as corporate businesses and schools.
Two perspectives on every project
The name reflects the way the team works. Parallax is the apparent change in the position of an object resulting from the change in the direction or position from which it is viewed. For Parallax Films, it describes two perspectives at work on every project: the camera operator and the subject, the artistic result and the marketing purpose, and the relationship between the team and the clients they work for.
What makes the work stand out?
Parallax Films takes a dual approach to every project: marketing and artistic. Quality is the baseline, not a selling point. The team can't watch television without picking apart every shot, analysing it and thinking about how it could be done differently. That level of attention carries into every production.
Because the team thinks like marketers as well as filmmakers, imagery is planned and strategic. Video and photography is never created for its own sake. Every piece is built around what it needs to achieve and for whom.
Meet the team
Wayne Cook
Director of Photography and Film | Aerial Operations
Wayne started his professional imagery career in 2008 as a wedding and motorsport photographer. Three years later, he had developed an appetite for more, so Wayne learned how to film and produce video and started his previous company, COBi Digital Productions, specialising in aerial filming New Zealand wide.
Since then, Wayne has filmed for the BBC, Warner Bros, TVNZ, Tourism New Zealand, Government organisations, and small and large corporate businesses.
Wayne is creative in all senses of the word: a highly skilled director, filmmaker and storyteller. He loves meeting new people, creating imagery he can be proud of, and sharing the work he creates with his clients... and good coffee.
Liz Slade
Production Manager | Photographer | 3D Tours
Liz developed a love for imagery early on, working in a camera and photo store in her early twenties. She loved it so much she bought her first camera, became a wedding and corporate photographer, and then started her own marketing company in Christchurch, which now specialises in imagery.
In 2016 Liz joined Parallax Films and is now production manager and photographer. You will also find her behind a video camera on larger productions, managing live streams and capturing 3D virtual tours.
Liz brings a strategic marketing perspective to imagery and productions, which clients find particularly valuable during pre-production.
